  Este programa le ofrece en profundidad una amplia visión del cambio, la gobernabilidad y las políticas urbanísticas actuales y le dotará de las aptitudes y conocimientos para poder contribuir de la forma más efectiva a un desarrollo urbanístico sostenible y una calidad de vida aceptable para los residentes. 

  • If you work, or would like to work, in a wide variety of roles concerned with the planning and management of cities, towns and neighbourhoods, this programme has been designed for you.
  • We are widely recognised as one of Europe's leading centres of urban research. In the most recent independent review of research quality (RAE 2008), Urban Studies at Glasgow was rated in the UK's top ten in its field.
  • The programme is very flexible and you can complete the courses through full-time, part-time or modular study. Much of the taught content is delivered in intensive 'conference-style' days. These are designed to suit all needs, whether you are studying full-time or balancing your study with professional commitments.
  • There is significant input from industry, including teaching on some courses, guest lectures and seminars. Our contributors include Scottish and local government, and organisations who are delivering policy on these issues.

  Programme overview

  • MSc: 12 months full-time; 24 months part-time; up to 60 months on modular basis
  • PgDip: 9 months full-time; 18 months part-time; up to 4 years on modular route
  • PgCert: 4 months full-time; 8 months part-time; up to 4 years on modular route

  You will take a number of core and optional courses, enabling you to
  

  • demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of the social, economic and environmental forces shaping British cities
  • provide an independent, critical assessment of current urban issues and policy responses 
  • analyse the institutions and processes through which policies are developed and delivered 
  • appreciate the complexity of urban policy making.

  • Policy analysis.

  • Spatial planning strategies
  • Regenerating cities
  • Designing places
  • Crime and community safety
  • Economic development
  • Remaking urban neighbourhoods
  • Strategic marketing and decision making
  • Community planning and partnership.

  You will also research a specialist topic and produce a dissertation (MSc only).

  
  Career prospects 

  
  Career opportunities exist within the private and public sectors in city, town and neighbourhood planning, urban regeneration, policy research and development, economic development.

  Entry requirements

  
  A second-class Honours degree or equivalent qualification. Relevant work or voluntary experience will also be taken into account.

  
  English language 

  
  If your first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English Language proficiency level.
